My Prayer For You

When I was praying today I felt as though I needed to write a few words of encouragement to those that subscribe to my website and/or read my blogs.

Christmas can be a difficult time. As much as we enjoy seeing the children jump up and down and laugh in their excitement around the Christmas tree, there can be much sadness surrounding the holidays too.

Perhaps you are grieving the loss of someone you loved, or you're battling with an illness that may or may not be cured. Maybe you're praying to hold a baby in your arms and, although you want to be happy for them, it's heartbreaking to watch your friends and family with their children. Maybe you find family relationships challenging, or you feel completely overwhelmed by the circumstances in your life right now.

Feelings of melancholy and just plain sadness are with me at many times during the holidays too.

Of course, I smile and laugh when I meet with people. I suppose we all do that to some extent ... but behind the smile on the faces of the people we know, or don't even know, can be a very hurting soul.

My prayer for you, as well as myself today, is that we will take comfort in knowing that God IS FOR US!

He loves us with an unconditional love so deep that it's difficult to fathom it -- because He is SO GOOD (even, and maybe even more, when we can't see it).

Today, know that you're not alone. My heart aches, not only because of some family challenges but, for those people who I love dearly, who are struggling with huge issues that I can't help with.

The one swaddled and crying inside that manger is why we celebrate Christmas day. He knew sorrow too, but He left great encouragement for us:

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13 (NIV)

No matter what's happening in our lives, we can trust in Jesus who truly is our only hope!

With Love,

Pattie Janzen
