WARRIOR IV

When I was in Grade Nine, my science teacher presented evolution (ie. the “Big Bang”) as the factual beginning for all life on earth. I didn’t think myself overly bold, at the time, but I did ask him enough questions (it didn’t take many) to have him quickly admit that it was “just a theory”. Then I took my bible into class the next day and he allowed me to read the Genesis account of God’s creation. After I finished, he said, “Well, you can believe that if you want,” to which I replied, “It takes a lot more faith to believe something came from nothing, than the fact that God designed the world, and us in it.”

Even when a few of my school mates called me “the Talking Bible” for the duration of my high school years, I stuck to my guns. I knew I didn’t come from a monkey and I wasn’t scared to say it. (Yes, I was a bit cheeky, even back then.)

But … I’d say the same thing today!

I’m not sure why our world has swallowed what even Darwin admitted was a “theory”, but you don’t have to look far, whether it be inside the intricacies of nature or the miraculous ways our bodies work, to realize that it makes no sense that all of this could be “accidentally” brought about by some cosmic detonation. I mean, when has an explosion of any kind made something even remotely better, never mind life-producing? I wanna say — give your head a shake!

Is it not easier, and astoundingly more intelligent to think of God, in all His glory and wisdom, reaching down from heaven to make everything, including US?! What love and care, creativity and ingenuity He represents!

The way the sperm and egg get together and all of our chemistry and cells differentiate into the different systems we need to function so that we can grow, run, jump, laugh and love … seriously! WOW! AND ... impossible without the hand of God.

No one can say they have faith in the One True God if they don’t believe He IS THE MASTER CREATOR.

According to Ephesians 6:16, as warriors we are to take up “the shield of faith, to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one”.

If you’re a believer in Jesus Christ, you’re undoubtedly feeling at least some firey arrows right now.

If we don’t stand for what we know is truth, our shields will be down (or at least suffer from many holes similar to the "theory" of evolution), and our faith will crumble. We MUST NOT CRUMBLE!

How do we protect and increase our faith? We read God’s Word (starting with Genesis 1:1 and finishing with Revelation 22:21) and treasure it in our hearts and minds. If we do that, NO arrow will be able to pierce through, and our FAITH will STAND STRONG!

Are you feeling as I do these days—like the world’s gone mad and you think people have lost all common sense?

Take heart, my friend, and hold on tight to your faith—in the One who loves you so much that He sent His Son to die for you.

And if (“when”, in my case) we do become disheartened, lets not forget the verses below AND what we've read in the back of the book! Because ... we win!

Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.” (NIV)

Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.” (KJV)

Darla - the Hot Mess

Have you ever felt like a hot mess?  Like you can’t string a complete thought together before your mind squirrels off in another of the thirty directions it's being pulled?  But there is one constant

One of my sweetest childhood memories was when my dad would take us, his three children, and our mother out for a drive to check out "the sites". With no electronics we kids would entertain ourselves

Firstly, the lost has been found!  23 days after his great escape, and just after their first new chicken hatched that morning, Pretzel The Snake showed up.  The even better news is: he didn’t get nea
