A Fresh Reminder

I was privileged to speak at a retreat over the weekend, and, as often happens, I wondered if I was the one most blessed.
One thing I notice every time I have the honour of speaking to any group, is this: we may be different in many ways, but in at least one we are all similar. We ALL have struggles. Some are, or seem, huger than others, but life is difficult, and every one of us has challenges.
As women we're relational, and when we gather together, and get real with one another, a spirit-filled bond is formed. It's a beautiful thing! Laughing and crying together, relating to one another -- all of this is so good. And it refreshes our souls!
The theme for the weekend was centred around loving God with our entire heart, soul, mind and strength.
As I prayed about what I'd share, I couldn't help but think of the many times I've failed at this. I love Jesus, so why am I not more consistently kind, gentle, patient and loving? Perhaps you've wondered this too.
I think God knew we'd need many a reminder, because he stuck a lot of that sort of direction inside His Word.
As I searched, and prepped, for what I'd present, I had to smile more than once. The prompting to love the One True God with our whole heart, soul, mind and strength is dotted throughout scripture. Don't you love that? When I see an important message "on repeat" in the Bible, it makes me feel safe, and loved.
My guess is: God knew we'd all need these well-placed reminders -- to stay renewed and refreshed!
He's such a good, good Father, and He knows us so well.
As only one small example, I'll take the verse from Mark and record it here -- just in case you need the same reminder:
From Jesus' own lips, He said in Mark 12 (NASB1995) Vs. 30: "And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength."
AND THEN THIS BONUS: Vs. 31: "The second is this, 'You shall love your neighbour as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."
Imagine what the world would look like if we all lived up to those few, but incredible directions!
God bless you today, and every day! May His light shine upon you!
With Love,
Pattie Janzen
