Joy to Remember

Hannah Crews, an influencer I’ve been following for a while now, posts not only humorous tidbits, but uplifting ones as well. I’ll share something that resounded with me later in this blog, but when I watch her reels I’m reminded about something I find challenging at times.
That is: Sharing JOY!
Helping people see the lighter side of our often stress-filled lives takes a gifted knack, and is something I fail at too often. I know. Hypocrite - right?? I write a humour column, for goodness' sake!
I obviously love laughing, but to be totally transparent--I find myself often seeking and, more often lately, s-e-a-r-ch-ing to find comedic relief in our not-as-funny world.
Yesterday was November 11th — our official day to remember the people who fought for the freedoms we enjoy in Canada and the USA. For me, it’s a somber occasion as I think about those brave people who cared enough for their fellow man that they placed their wants and wishes behind them--to fight for something real. Many not only fought for freedom, but they died for the cause.
I’ve never known desperate want, numerous unmet needs, or overwhelming fear that might threaten my life and/or limb. Problems, yes. Grief, yes. Strife, certainly. But a majority of the time I’ve been blessed beyond measure. Many are in North America. For this, we shouldn't only be thankful — we must rejoice!
That brings me to the reel (and then one of the podcasts) I saw and heard by Hannah Crews:
“Walk into every room like Jesus sent you.” Boom!
When I first heard that it made me smile, but at the same time it dumped a whole bagful of hot coals over my head. Being a believer in Jesus, and often praying that God will bring the people into my life whom He ordains, this one simple sentence resounded with me - loudly. I believe that Jesus goes with me--every minute of every day--when I rise up and when I fall down. WOW! He really does walk with me--into every room I enter! So ... how can I not have joy with that in my knowledge bank?!
If you're His child, I want to encourage you to memorize this thought too. I’ve been trying to practice this for a few weeks now, and I’ve learned this: it’s IMPOSSIBLE to enter a room with an angry, ungrateful and/or grumpy spirit.
Thinking (or saying out loud), “I’m going to step into this room, knowing that Jesus has sent me and is with me,” has changed my perspective drastically—especially in the moments when I’m not feeling particularly overjoyed.
So, with thanks to an uplifting person who will probably never know what a blessing she’s been to this writer, have a joyous day!
God is so good! Let's show Him off and light up every space we’re in!!
Enjoy For King and Country’s newest song and official video: World on Fire! (if this link doesn’t work, it’s easy to find on Spotify, Amazon music, YouTube, and other platforms). I have commented that if this song doesn't make you move ... nothing will. LOL
Psalm 96:3&4a (NASB1995) - “Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all peoples. For great is the Lord and greatly to be praised!"
Matthew 5:16 (NASB1995) - “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
If you'd like to tap into "Lighten Up With Hannah Crews" - here's a link. You'll find her on Spotify and other platforms, as well. Although I don't know her personally (and I'm not being paid for any kind of promotion), I believe her mission is to bring encouragement to others.
